I can totally relate with that 'getting absolutely nowhere' part. I managed the hackintosh to work! Thanks for this guide.ĭid you use a custom config at Clover installtion or just the defaults? Did you select any UEFI drivers? I don't know why this isn't the standard hackintoshing method! The first few boots didn't work well, so I went into the VM again and tweaked stuff until it was all good.

Seemed to work fine and was really easy - booting to a fully functioning hack with no OS X install or configuration required. I also ran the configurator and installed all kexts etc while in the VM. I used an off the shelf (torrent) El Cap VM and ran the install sierra package in that. You can give the VM an entire physical hard drive, do the sierra install on that and then just boot to it, after installing clover of course. It'll see your Mavericks drive/partition and let you copy the user accounts, apps, files and settings across Once you've cloned the VBox drive to a physical disk and rebooted into it, run the Migration Assistant in Applications ->Utilities and choose 'transfer from another Mac'.

You can upgrade quite easily - follow the instructions above, then at the point where you reboot and create a user, give the account a name that doesn't exist on your main machine. Not really sure what the smallest drive you can do it on is, to be honest.
